Kerry Gibson was born and raised in Weber County, where he owns and operates a fifth generation dairy farm with his father and brother. He also owns a local convenience store. Operating several small businesses has prepared Kerry well for public service. He has learned that true wealth is created and fostered by individuals, not government. Kerry enjoys farming, and spending time with his family. After serving an LDS mission to the Netherlands, Kerry married his sweetheart Katrina Creager Gibson.

They reside in West Weber and have 6 children.  Kerry attended Utah State University where he earned his Dairy Herdsman Degree.

Kerry has been involved with many organizations, including the Farm Service Agency and the Farm Bureau. He has served in many capacities, ranging from local positions to chairing the National Young Farmers and Ranchers committee. In 2001 Kerry was chosen as the Top Young Farmer in the nation by the American Farm Bureau Federation. In 2003 he was chosen as an Agriculture Eisenhower Fellow and spent several months in Europe working on food safety and security issues with European Union officials. While serving in these capacities he had the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time in Washington DC where he developed a great love for this country which sparked a desire to be more politically active.

In 2004 he was elected as a State Representative for District 6. As a three-term State Representative in House District 6, Kerry has worked to preserve conservative, constitutional based governing principles in the legislature.   Kerry sponsored and passed several pieces of important legislation that have protected families, furthered the cause of developing efficient government, and preserved individual liberties.  As the chair of the Natural Resources Appropriations committee, Kerry oversaw the states’ budget for the department of Agriculture and Food, as well as water rights, water resources, wildlife and SITLA, among others.

He also served on the Utah International Trade Commission and State Water Development Commission. Kerry is excited to have earned the support of the voters of Weber County to serve as a County Commissioner.  He truly believes that local government is where the rubber really meets the road.  He looks forward to working with all of the good people in Weber County to help make our community an even better place to live.
